This is by far the best fish and chips I've ever had thick and crispy fish massive large portion chips and the staff are always friendly. Recommend highly

Was at Shoebury Common beach and nipped out early evening for fish and chips to have on the beach. It was Monday and unfortunately the nearest and my usual was closed and thats when I discovered the Golden Friars. So glad I did, cod was lovely and batter crispy……as for the chips 👌 Not sure I’ll be going back to the usual chippy now when I’m next at the beach. The only slight problem is parking, but ok if you have someone with you who can jump out of car.

Many many thanks to Golden Friars. We had an in-house Coronation street party at Friars Baptist Church on Friday 5th May. They weren't aware we were going to order 16 cod specials at 10.30am for 12 noon and took the order no problem and boy, the fish was amazing and VERY generous portions. Came to Shoeburyness East beach, the nearest fish and chips takeaway closes at 2pm. Found this place not far from East Beach. Glad we did! Nice takeaway restaurant, prices are very competitive (especially with London prices) And services is brilliant. Was served by a lovely Turkish Lady. Very polite and friendly. Will definitely buy from here next time!

Pop in here from time to time always get a cod special for my old man which he loves and thought i would try a chicken shish out and was banging ! Always nice staff and food is ready in a reasonable time thank you 🙏

The reason I have no stars for atmosphere is that I had it delivered to me. This is such lovely fish and chips. Big pieces of fish that are delicious and chips just cooked right. I had a gherkin and my partner had pickled onion and buttered roll. We have ordered 3 times now, because we love there fish and it comes in a lovely oblong box separate from the chips. The delivery girl is so pleasant and the best I have ever experienced. She is so friendly and polite. Will continue to order from Golden Friars, as I think there the best delivery service for fish & chips.

Always go here with my grandparents. Staff are super kind, food is excellent, and reasonably priced. A bit of a gamble getting salt and vinegar on your chips, but it just adds a sense of thrill wondering how much vinegar you got ;)
